The last 2 weeks or so when using my CK30 HST 2006 the engine would shut down for no apparent reason ,I thought that I had hit the key switch with my knee .The first few times it happened it would start right back up. Yesterday I was using it to drag in fire wood and it shut down again. This time it took awhile to get it started. drove back to the barn and it shut down again and it would not start. The fuel bowl is full the fuel tank is full I was getting fuel to IP .I loosened one of the ip lines and turned it over with no fuel. Filter is clean. I already had the ip repaired with 400 hours under warranty and it now has 950 hours. When I turn the key switch I can hear the klick, Never had a problem starting it in any weather It has been garage kept and not outside. I hope it is not the ip again .Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think you need to look first at the stop solenoid. The fuel system, including the IP, typically doesn't cause a sudden shutdown.

Which version of the stop solenoid do you have: external on the right side of the engine or bolted to the front of the block just ahead of the IP? The fact you hear the click implies the second type (front of block). If so, maybe the hold coil current is getting interrupted, perhaps by a wonky key switch.

Try this simple test: turn the key on (you should hear the click). Crank the starter briefly. If it doesn't start turn the key off while listening for a second click (as the stop solenoid plunger extends). If you don't hear this second click the hold coil let go prematurely, before the key was turned to off.

There are other ways you can test this, but you want to be sure the stop solenoid plunger retracts and stays retracted until the key switch is turned off. If solenoid isn't holding, we can analyze possible causes. If the solenoid is OK we can check the IP rack. In any case, I recommend finding the real problem before you start swapping parts.

I think the click he hears is the glow plugs engaging, at least for me the click is always accompanied by the glow light coming on. Although what do I know, maybe it is the SS I hear.

I agree though, that the IP probably isn't the problem. Usually once those are fixed, they stay fixed. Stop solenoid sounds probable.

I know you said garage kept but don't forget the ignition switch. My CK30hst acted up that way and it was the switch. Try cleaning it. Some use WD-40, electrical cleaner spray or brake cleaner. Then lube it with fluid film or something similar.

It can also be a neutral switch or under seat switch mslfunction. Check that there isnt something blocking the switch. I had a birds nest block my old jd switch once. Tractor kept shutting down

We don't know which exact version of CK20 the OP has, but I doubt it has a seat switch. The key switch could well be the problem but it is best to start by knowing which version (front or side) of the stop solenoid is involved. They function quite differently.

Thank you all for your help. The tractor is at our cabin and we are leaving for it today, There isn't internet service there so I can't answer any questions until I get back home, Thank you all for your help.

Great. If you aren't sure what you see on your tractor (and it's not already too late to tell you) take some cell phone shots of the unknown mechanism.

First I want to thank everyone that helped me. Further testing showed that the ingector pump was bad. Loaded it up and hauled to Hoover tractor in M ifflenberg Pa were I bought it. They checked it out and concerned my diagnosis. Installed a rebuilt pump. While it was there they installed a new ceramic balls for the front loader joy stick. Took longer to get the tractor loaded than it did to repair it.

Sorry to hear the injector pump went bad again. Some believe, by members reports, that the injector gears in certain years were made from brittle metal that didn't stand up to Kiotis new shut off solenoid if yours is within those certain years. Hopefully this rebuilt IP will last forever.
