Running a post hole digger( Tractor Supply Unit), I noticed that I was averaging 1400 engine speed, will this low rpm's damage the tractor or the auger?
My 4110 needs 2600 engine speed to achieve 540 pto speed,
"BUT" 1400 seems to be the safest speed when dealing with the rock in my area of NY..... What do you Think?????

This is one implement you DON'T need to run at 540. I usually run it anywhere from idle up to about where you run it. Any higher and it seems to get "out of control" fast.

I have run them at 1000 engine rpm for years. If I need a little boost, I will give it more throttle.

Ditto. Slow as you can without lugging the engine. We used an old 8N for this a couple months ago, tried every speed, and slow was the best.
