Engine speed

I see a lot of talk about speeds of 2700 RPM in the forum. This seems to me an excessive speed for my 2 cyl. 195D.
Also the limit screw (high speed) has a flattened end with a hole i it like there should be a spring or something attached to it. Can anyone enlighten this old fool?? /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

2700 RPM is excessive operating speed, that is usually max RPM, (2700-2800), on a Yanmar. 2200 is a more normal operating speed. Never knew they even had a high speed limit screw.

Maybe it's not. It's on the linkage at the trottle body.
Mine tops out at about 2000 RPM

I believe the flat ended screw (opposite your throttle stop) originally had aircraft style wire with a lead crimp to indicate the factory throttle setting.

Is there any indication on your tachometer showing normal or maximum RPM? I don't recall any two cylinder Yanmar running 2700, but I could be wrong.

I thought the YM135 and YM155 both ran at 2700 rpm. My YM1110D (2 cyl) parts manual indicates that the engine (2T72) is rated at 11 ps at 2700 rpm.

Yep your right.....funny thing too as I have a 1300d. Clear case of look before I leap...thanks for the correct information.

Quoted from the YM195/YM240 operation manual:

Slow idle 800 rpm

fast idle and max road speed YM195 2550 rpm
fast idle and max road speed YM240 2600 rpm

Full throttle full load 2400 rpm

normal working speed 1800-2400 rpm

and PTO 540 @ 2200.
