well my first thought would be air lock in fuel line, second I would ask why did you put new spark plugs when this unit has ten hr on it,try putting your old ones back,if you still have them, and 3rd low battery charge .

Is there alot of disassembly to do this, it is still under warranty.

Nascar Man -- Easy call. Since you are uncomfortable with disassembly, take it in for warranty work! I would agree with others that timing seems likely to be your problem.

I called the fellow that is going to be working on it and explained it to him and he agrees that it is the flywheel key, said he has been getting alot on these in the shop.....

I gather the hold down nut torque spec for the Courage flywheels is not enough, I'm pretty sure Kohler will issue a bulletin for this if they haven't already.

The flywheel is keyed for 2 reasons, one the timing is determined by a magnet attached to it that passes by the coil to induce the spark voltage at the right time as determined by the key's position. Second, the key itself is made from a softer metal than the flywheel or crankshaft end. This protects the engine from severe internal damage in the event something driven off the engine should suddenly lock up- the inertia from the flywheel will shear the flywheel key, throwing the ignition timing off and stopping the engine rather than the engine continuing to attempt to run and bending its rod(s).

Well, just dropped it off and the fellow said that he talked to kohler and they said they had a few get out where the hold down nut was not torqued properly.they are aware of the problem. Thanks guys, Billy

I am betting on the flywheel key, Fordlords put me on the right track, and I fixed it after grinding a new key that was a bit too big. Fixing it on a Sunday my options where limited.
