Thanks for your great help Jim, the 'beast ' finally started last night, after re-bleeding and loosening the injector feed pipes, repumping to get some weepage at each, and finally, it fired, smokescreen and hammering, not sure who was more surprised, me or the neighbours.....
Will take a look at the parts catalogue. BTW found the heavy line from the ignition switch to the pre-heaters had worked loose, (very tight on length) so ran a short extension to it then re-inserted, took out and checked the power to all the pre-heaters and that they were working as well. Had a problem stopping a drip at one of the injector feed line couplings, will be a problem moving it again in the future...
Well, well, Standard Triumph engine after all. I knew Banner Lane well, went there for a job in 1971 but got one working for MF right next door. Coventry had lots of work then, all gone now, Rootes, MF, S-T, Jaguar...plus all the small firms supplying parts. Perkins (Frank Perkins Ltd.) was owned then by M-F now by Caterpillar, I think.
Thanks again for all your help, you keep well now, and hope Texas is going great for you all.
Colin
