Any suggestions on what type sweet pea I should plant in 2014? I have never grown them before and I want to try a couple or three different types to see which one my family likes best. So far I have seed for Thomas Laxton Improved Peas. Others I am considering are the Wando Pea, Knight Pea, and the Willet's Wonder Pea. I have also read that the Alaskan is good. We will eat some fresh but most will be frozen.

Any input would be appreciated.

I only plant the ones that do not require shelling, like Sugar Snap and the like.

The only peas I planted were blackeyed peas although we do like things like the Sugar Snap peas, but the only "English" peas we buy are the Lesueur Very Young Small Sweet Peas.

Sugar snap...early and no shelling! :)

With many peas varieties need to trellis up the vines

The name makes me think of climbing peas that have very nice blossoms and scents.:D
