EPA wants to regulate farm dust

Didn't ask if they are profit/nonprofit, asked if they are price regulated. Non-profit organizations are limited in how they spend the money not in how they get it. If you're getting power 'at cost' then you're using a lot of power.:) Mike

Don't use any more power than we did 15 years ago and the bills are double already. I just installed a High Efficiency Heat/Air system in the home that qualified for the $1500 Federal tax credit this year. Bills still going up even with the extra efficiency and programmable thermostat. Our monthly Coop magazine has warned us for 2-3 years this was coming and they could do nothing to prevent it. Too Many Regs already :confused2: Ken Sweet

EPA wasn't created until about 1985 when the river flowing through Ohio (can't remember the name think it was the Catahoochie River) caught fire and was on tv.
...... that would be the Cuyahoga River (pronounced Kai-ah-hog-ah) and the fire you are thinking of - the one that made national headlines - was probably the one in 1969 ....... although the river has caught on fire at least 13 times since 1868 :(

And the US EPA was proposed by President Nixon, and created from a number of other Federal Agencies by Presidential Executive Order in 1970, under "Reorganization Plan No. 3" (which also established the utterly evil NOAA - ya know: the Weatherman ..... :D)

Just a few facts about "Love Canal". I live about 20 miles from that site. When it was used for a dump site by Hooker Chem it was capped with over 12 feet of clay. The city of Niagara falls wanted the area to build on and when the company wouldn't sell it the city took it by eminate domain.

The first thing they did was scrape off about 11 feet of the clay cap, so who created the problem.
.... so who created the problem ?

Is it really your position that it was the City that "created the problem" ?

Seriously ?

I'll grant you this much - the political goobers that made the decision to uncap the site and build a school there were being completely stupid .... but to say that .....as though Hooker had no culpability in the matter .... well .....

Bottomline: Had Hooker acted ethically and not dumped their trash in a manner that created an environmental Chernobyl, there would have been no problem - regardless of the actions of the city.
