epson printer problems

Thanks for the responses, I think I'll call Epson first. It should still be under warrenty, It's less than a year old. Maybe I can get a replacement.

Same song different verse..... If you dont use it it will dry out.. I ran dry, waited about a month before buying new ink, wasted a black cartridge tring to clean the darn thing(with tech support). They finally sent me a new one with ink. They made it easy..... Now that I ran out of ink again, I might be calling them to replace this one /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

They went out of their way to help, but I cant say I'll buy another one.. My HP lasted forever. I decided not to spend the money on ink, and just buy an all in one for nearly the same price.... Oh well... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I don't want to start Epson Bashing. But I had a Epson EX5200 and bought my son a Christmas gift of a EX5400. They both died with the same dried up ink problem. Using Epsons Ink. Nothing would get either one working again. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif Finally replace mine with a HP 5150 and 7900. The 7900 sat for almost 6 months without use. Fired it up recently to print some photos. First one out was same quality a the next 20. I bought Epson printers for years. They all worked great until I needed to upgrade to Ink Jet models. Now I have nothing but HP's with no failures.
Hope Epson gives you something other than the one that uses the printer cartridges that are used in the CX 46,52-5400 and C82-64 series printers.

At home I have an Epson C62 color inkjet and a HP 3015 laser multi function machine. I almost never print in color and had the inkjet dry out. Replaced the cartriges and it worked fine. Until the new ones dried out. I think my daughter printed about 10 color sheets for a school project she had to turn in and I invested roughly $65 in 2 Epson ink cartriges which are now dry again. So at this point you can call me cheap, but I just don't print color anymore!!!

)</font> That doesn't work for me. I have a C84 Epson; it uses color even when printing a black text file. Run out of any color and it'll stop working. My next printer will have refillable cartridges.

Bought my CX-4600 last X-Mas and I buy after market ink. I'm on my 4th or 5th set right now. Never had a problem to date. Maybe the guys that don't use them that often should run a test page once a week or so to keep it up and running smooth. Just a thought.

My wife is on her second CX4600. She loves em and ran about 10,000 pages thru the first one before it died. She only used Epson ink.

Might as well chime in with my gripe about Epson. I've got a C80 that gloms black ink all over the pages. A new cartridge fixes it for a while. It's from not being used enough, but none of my previous printers did it.

Well I called Epson today, after being asked a bunch of questions, they said that's about all the trouble shooting I can do so they are sending me a CX4800. It should be here by the end of the week.

We've had about 20 of the c82/c84 printers all die of the same kind of symptoms at work. All of the 84's died immediately after being recartridged wih new Epson cartridges. Epson said they do not have any known common problems with these printers. I told them with number I had encountered at work it was statistically impossible for them to not have had a rash of failures and they HAD to know about it. I also informed them that any purchase in the future that I was involved in would not be for an Epson brand printer. Oh yes and did I mention that their customer service sucks! In my opinion the last good personal printer Epson made was the 880. I am trying out the HP stuff for a while and see how they perform.
