Ironic isn't it? IMHO the credit bureaus are nothing more than legalize ID thieves. They steal our data without our permission then sell it back to us. They can put their so-called "credit rating" where the Sun doesn't shine!

Happy to say I can ignore Equifax. Everything is paid off, owned clear, and Mastercard used/paid off monthly is my only credit use. Several years ago the last of several times I refinanced the house simply to lock in a lower interest rate, (no cash-out) I was told my credit rating isn't flawless only because I don't use credit enough. Apparently someone has to be making money off you, to be assigned the highest rate. Equifax can go .... whatever.

I went through that when I decided to finance for the first time because I'm really not a carpenter. The loan officer said that I don't have good credit, don't have bad credit; I had NO credit. The only bills I'd had for over 10 years was my electric and insurance bills.

The "good" news though is that I"ve been selected to apply for Paypal credit. I believe that anybody can apply...

You can ignore Equifax all you want but you can bet they are not ignoring you. They do have your credit history and if your info was hacked, others now have your info. Have your frozen your credit info? That is the only way to make an attempt at protecting yourself. In today's world, ignoring stuff is not enough.

Yep. You can't ignore Equifax because they're not ignoring you.

The CEO having to resign is a big step for the future. That will send a message to the execs in other companies that they need to take this stuff seriously or they could lose their jobs. The biggest problem with these people is that they don't want to spend the money to secure the data. I can't even count the number of meetings I've been brought in to as the designer of the security systems we're selling to those companies where the company people say they don't have the budget. Oh and besides being free it has to have no performance impact, require no changes to their existing code and processes, and no down time to install.
