A better explanation is that the pto is driven off the front of the transmission. If one steps on the clutch with transmission in gear the mower momentum will drive the rear wheels through the transmission gears. If the transmission is out of gear it won't drive the rear wheels.

There are several groups out of the Ga. area wholesaling "reconditioned tractors". Some may be ,but some are just made to look that way. Most have hour meters turned back. Be suspicious of 0-300 hours. These tractors are C & D grade tractors when they are bought in Japan. Until this market developed these were parts tractors. How many people are willing to pay the same price or more for a reconditioned car that had been totalled ? I've had seveal calls of dealers ( cons would be more accurate) promoting them as new tractors. They give the trade a bad name. Buyer beware . I've been buying only A grade tractors & my costumers & I haven't had any of the mechanical problems that many dealers & owners have. The problem is the quality tractors cost more & too many people buy on price & a paint job.

This guy told me it was a mistake the first time. And now he relists the same tractor and calls it LIVE PTO again. Of course every grey market he auctions he lists it as Live PTO. Now it looks intentional.
