Equipment Trailer - slide-in ramps VS tilt bed

To **** with the slide in ramps. I despise them and would never encourage anyone to buy them. MY hands have never gotten along with them and I'm more than strong enough to handle them. I always worry about them sliding or not staying where I put them when I'm loading or unloading. If you think flip up ramps were difficult with the spring assist you need to look at other trailers. My wife can easily pickup the ramps on my 14k GN. Tilt trailers have their place and are great if they fit your needs. Personally, I don't like the added cost and weight. If I had a semi and a need to load equipment alot, I'd have a sliding axle tilt trailer like the rental companies run.

I also despise slide in ramps. Way harder on your back than flip up ramps. And flip-ups are typically much stronger. And they have the foot on them to keep from lifting the tow vehicle's rear wheels when loading.

They are called Rollback Trailers and you don't need a semi, a pickup will do just fine: Rollback Trailers, Tilt Trailers & Heavy Car Haulers in Texas | Kwik Load Trailers

The trailer axles are back farther than a same length tilt trailer.

BINGO! This guy has it down. My buddy has one of these trailers and they are the cats meow. Phenomenal! Its way better than any other tilt trailer. Lower angles as well, for those sports cars...I'm ordering one of these in a 20 footer in the summer.

We have a 22+4 GN deckover tilt. I like the tilt, but if I were only hauling a tractor I would skip the deckover in favor of a lower deck height. And having some portion of fixed deck is great on a tilt unless for some reason you can't live with the extra length. Get either 4 ft or 6 ft fixed deck depending on what you expect to haul.

I concur based on a 16' gravity tilt without that fixed front deck. I miss it every time I want to bring a spare impliment or 2. Nice spot to put spare gear & still leverage the tilt. Wouldn't work for 2 machines, but I don't have to worry about that.
