Ouch Trado, I do cut my own hair
I do Know It allows you to set your own code for the lock AND if worried about a thief somehow managing to clone the phones Bluetooth, you can also have the car make you enter a code of your choice to be able to drive the car.
That would have helped some KIA and other MFGR car owners from having their vehicle stolen.
Nope,
I did just like Gale did about 4 days after he ordered his Model Y LR. The difference was the Service Center got one to him in just a few days.
There was a rush at that time because Tesla dropped the prices almost 20K and that qualified the Y for the tax break as well.
I actually spec-ed and ordered a Long Range, but after reading Tesla Motor Club posts, found out that every time someone switched their order to the $4K more Performance , they magically got a Vin assigned within a week or two. In my case I thought why not test this theory ( some pretty brutal back and forth on TMC saying Tesla would never prioritize shipping and assigning Vins of higher dollar models over existing orders) and get the faster car so switched my order on line Since getting impatient after waiting for over 6 weeks with little updates and no assigned Vin for the Long Range.
It wasn't even a full day and I had a Vin assigned, meaning the car was either on the assembly line or completed. the Operator manual was in the glove compartment and the Tesla rep showed me the features and how to open the Glove compartment as well as paired my phone before I drove off with three miles on the ODO, I made it all of an 1/8th mile before finding an open straight stretch and flooring it- at which point I 'knew' I ordered the right Tesla for me.
Anyway my Tesla was optioned and ordered by me before it shipped out of Fremont. Now wondering if Gale got a paper owners manual supplied with his car.
Pretty shrewd Tesla... It worked on me.
ps. something us Tesla owners should already know...
Google search
"Do Teslas come with a printed manual?"
No, because of the continuous update, a paper copy manual would only be good for the day it was published. You can download the PDF and print it, but by the next update, some parts of it won't be accurate anymore.
And there it is, the answer to supply a paper manual or Not, Why print a manual that will be out of date after just one update, which is a huge waste of paper.
Which makes me think the online Owners manual and on screen manual is updated with the cars updates.
All fine with me unless they change my warranty details
