I haven't been around TbN in a while, just saw this post and don't have time to read the last 141 pages of comments! I'll stick the the initial topic of the thread. I have an F150 Lightning, Lariat ER that I've had for 2+ years. It has 70,000 KM on it and is used for truck stuff like hauling my DK45 Cab tractor (~9000lbs with trailer and loaded tires), gravel (up to 13,000lbs as per the scales), interlock (~8000) etc. The truck does everything I ask of it. I've never needed to haul anything over 80KM (~50 miles?) so it really doesn't matter how much more power it uses while towing at it's limit. When you're not towing, the truck doubles as a sports car. That might not be the point of it and not what people want from a truck, but let's see you wipe the big fat grin off your face after launching 0-60 in 3.8 seconds!
I've also had a Tesla Model 3 Long Range Dual Motor for 6+ yrs. It has 170,000 KM on it. My wife and daughter drive it since they think my truck is too big. I can watch (in real time) where my daughter is, how fast she's driving, what she's listening to, if her heated seats are on and anything else you can think of! I can set a maximum speed limit, which she needs a code to turn off, I can put it in a Chill mode that knocks about 1/2 the power off, I can set an alarm if she drives after a certain time and I can see out of 4 cameras when she's parked! It's the perfect vehicle for an over protective dad to give his 17 yr old daughter.
Charging at home, the max it's technically possible to spend charging my truck at low demand times is about $20 and that gets you 500+ KM in the summer, 375 KM in the winter. The car's a lot cheaper. I probably spend less than $10 a day for both of them, and we drive a lot.
I've always loved driving, and I've never enjoyed driving anything more than our EVs. They are by far the best 2 vehicles I've ever owned, although I do prefer the truck.
