Show us these trends you claim exist.
Show us insurance claims.
Fire departments investigate every fire. Where is the data you claim?

He can’t. He’s an ignorant buffoon that hates EVs with an irrational fear.

Considering your serious belief in the flat earth conspiracy theory, you have zero credibility and top the chart on ignorance here. ;) So I prefer to look at the big picture on issues such as this world wide. So I see the extreme exaggerating that the EV circle jerk types spout, and I see the other end of the spectrum where protectionism of marketplace or investment causes EV hate expression, and realize the truth is half way between those positions. In other words, I take an EV realist position.

I like the concept, but hate the implementation, as most angle down about twice as far as would be useful. I really wish more cars allowed you to select how far they angled down.
Have you tried adjusting when in reverse? I have always found this sets the reverse turn-down for next time.

Now that you point it out, I think I may have done that without even realizing, in one of the cars I drive. The most troublesome one is my wife's SUV, and she just keeps the feature turned off, because they angled down so far. I'll try it in there, and see if the setting holds, or results in the normal position pointing skyward.

I just don’t understand what tilting them down to the rear tires does in the first place?
My rear view mirrors give me a perfect shot of what I might back into just the way they are.

It's about seeing your rear tire for parallel parking. Some people live in places where they never have to parallel park, but for those who do, this is actually a pretty nice feature.

I remember back when I worked in Philly, having to pause a few seconds to manually steer my mirror down using the electronic control, before backing into a streetside slip, as traffic was whizzing by. Would've loved this feature, back then.

Tilting the mirrors down during reverse is good if there were a small child by your back tire (or any other object).

But I can see a small child in my mirrors in the normal position

I can't see behind my vehicle with mirrors. Backup cam, yes. Mirrors, no

It all helps. And no matter how many reverse-looking options we add, parents will still back over bicycles their kids leave behind the car.
