Everlast Welders - Welders and Plasma Cutters by Everlast

I think the MultiMatic200 is a great MIG. Great Stick too.
I guess don't know what a good TIG is like then, but it works well (I think). It's DC so not great for Aluminum.
Should I buy a bottle of Helium, and control my electrode within 1/64" or buy a good AC TIG machine?

What I need now is to weld Aluminum, up to 1/4", and do it well. I don't envision buying a 2nd portable multi-process welder. So should I get aTIG only machine?
A friend says "just get an AC machine with pulse".

Need help with what models do this for a reasonable price. "Duty cycle" won't be necessary. Should I call you on the phone Mark?

DC is possible, but generally not considered practical. Buy a bottle or two of Helium and you'll see why it makes sense economically to get the AC. Sure, just call me.

Whats everlast limited.
Im tracing everlast to hongkong and finding unbranded green machines for cheap esab may also be from the same hong kong.
Is everlast just a middle man? Are everlast welders made to higher specs than the unbranded machines.

everlast limited? Everlast USA has no affiliation in Hong Kong. If there is such a Co. it has no affiliation with us. Everlast product is not made, branded or marketed in Hong Kong. Any company overseas can copy a color. It's only paint.

Everlast, the welder company is based in the US and distributes worldwide. But, no, it isn't a middle man either.

I have owned a couple Everlast 255EXT TIG machines, beasts! Somewhere there is a youtube video of a guy burning a hole in 3/4 inch aluminum with one of its advanced modes. If I had a gripe it would be cooler fittings that are incompatible (metric) with say a Miller torch cooler. The first/older unit color coding was inconsistent with industry standards but they corrected this on the newer unit.

That is interesting. The more i rrsearch the more i find i need to research more before buying. Not just everlast brand esab miller Hobart.

Id like proof and honestly not shaded answers .

The everlast name does seem to have a good following a good warranty and that warrants more research.

Everlast can be purchased via Amazon but I just call them direct to order. They offered me a modest discount on both machines I purchased. Ships out of California, very well packed. Fit and finish was excellent. Last I heard warranty work was being performed in Idaho but that may have changed or be inaccurate.

Here are some pro's and con's of an Everlast 255ext vs a Miller Dynasty 280dx - On price the Everlast wins. You can purchase 2-3 of the Everlast 255ext for the cost of a single Dynasty 280dx. On the other hand I have multiple Miller dealers, parts, and service available locally vs the Everlast I would have to pack up and ship somewhere for repair. So if I relied on the welder to make a living, if I could not afford down time, personally I'd lean towards the more expensive Miller. Am I giving up Made in USA quality by purchasing the Everlast? I called Miller and they told me the guts of the Dynasty is made in Asia. They are assembled/inspected in the USA but hearing that the guts of the machine e.g. the electronics are made in Asia like the Everlast was a bit of a let down given the price. So the price premium it seems is largely for that local/national support network.

Pay particular attention to duty cycle when comparing machines, its all over the map, the Everlast comes out on top in most comparisons I did.

Your post got me to thinking about down-time. I don't make a living welding, but even those who do, and own Miller, still can experience significant down time. I own only Miller, and have never had a problem, but there are plenty of examples out there (just search the web), of people who haveMiller equipment who have been left without a repair, for weeks. And those who have out of warranty failures where the repair (replacement board) costs more than the machine is worth.

So I'm thinking...; for about one-third the price of an equivalent Miller, you could buy a second Everlast machine for your backup, OR, if you had a failure that required shipping it out for repair, you could THEN buy the 2nd machine, and have it in what would probably be less time than getting a Miller repaired. After all, they may have to send them out too. Just thinkin...
