If you have an HST tractor with front end loader, you could probably use one of these.

Best part, it took about an hour to build & cost next to nothing.

Just took a scrap piece of 12" Jr I beam, welded some sleeves for one fork to slide in, with a stop for fork to push against.

Why does it have to be HST?

Welded some 6" side boards on it.

Installed a ring to chain it to rear of fork and I have a shovel

that weighs around 50 lbs.

Slip one fork off. Slide the shovel on the other fork by hand.

Position the fork off center so it is in full view.

It is quick & sure does beat the old hand shovel.

Hi Brent,

It wouldn't have to be HST but in my opinion would be much

easier to use & less likely to have a mishap. Especially when

doing some sensitive work close to 200 Lb test pvc lines, like

I was.

Us gear guys are extra skilled, that's why we don't need no stinkin' HST!

Either that or we're just cheap /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have ran straight gear tractors with loader, shuttle shift and hydrostats with loaders. Close is close no matter what you drive. I've never had a problem getting close or easing up on anything a gear tractor. Interesting digger though. How well does it dump? Any problem getting the clump of dirt to release?

I'll go along with that besides low gear in mine in .25 mph. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Come on guys lets not be bashing the HST's too bad. I would take the hydo pedal and the infinite speeds available to me any day over the gear drive that I used for the past 5 years.

Neal that’s a nice job on the dirt scoop and it shows real imagination. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

So far I have had no problem dumping. Normally will fall out before it is turned straight down. I have had to give it a little shake a time or two. Also I have not used it in clay yet, which would be more sticky for sure.

Sorry about the HST. My intention was not to start, yet another gear/HST war. Just wanted to make life easier for as many as possible.

I have used gear tractors for well over 50 years. I still own 2 of them with no intention of getting rid of either. If I didn't have my HST, I would try this on a gear tractor. The forks shown, were built for the gear tractors & later adapted to the HST, so it is just a matter of which tractor I choose to use it on.

Everyone that prefers gear, I suggest they use gears.

I have both and will use the one that I think fits the job best.
