I am really shocked that Ted from EA hasnt chimed in here yet

Hi from Ted to all the TBN members. years ago I would have been the first one to answer in this thread, now I have learned to read listen and learn. I would like to explain how our shipping has evolved.

When I first started this website 5 years ago, I tried at least 5 different shipping companies with programs written so when you entered your zip code it would give you your exact freight. The problem with these programs is that the pricing is all over the place. For this kind of shipping there was nothing consistent or fair for anybody, so we tried the free shipping method.

I think we all understand there is nothing free about shipping, even if you divide the country into four zones, those zones will have 1,000 miles each in them, there are many of you that have made purchases well over 1,000 miles away, and been charged no extra freight. The first thing I need to say is I don't try to make money on shipping, and my best guess is that I am losing a little bit.

For the first 1,000 miles, We have a set rate for every attachment, it is a close guestimate of what I average sending a particular attachment, over a period of time. Usually I can send the same attachment 1,000 miles for the same price as 300. location is everything. So we win some and we lose some, but if you are over 1,000 miles, and we can still ship it for the allotted price, we don't charge any extra. For example, the Dallas/Houston area, which is on a main shipping route, is almost always the same price as shipping it within my state, so we don't charge any extra.

Lots of people are shocked at what little bit they have to pay for certain areas of california. The other side of the story, if you are lucky enough to live in the middle of almost nowhere, and it is an indirect shipment, and no shipments are offered direct, then no one ships to that area cheap, whether it be me or the local dealer in your area. We try to be as fair as possible, charging high prices for shipping would just keep us from selling attachments, which is our main goal.

Our business is all about value, from the money you save not driving around, to the quality attachments you receive, and the customer service that you may need after the sale, and for the next sale. As we make our own line of attachments we rely on everything above to keep us in business. Thanks for all the comments

Ted,
Thanks for chiming in!

I think this thread got a little out of hand, nobody doubts that EA has great service and good prices, but seems like some people are taking it that way. :confused3::confused3:

Well sheeeee-oooooot. I'll be a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs! And I was so happy with the price and great delivery service Ted provided on my Sicma 40" tiller. Guess now I'll have to send it back.

Who's going to pay for shipping? :D :D

Sorry couldn't resist.

Personally I like Ted's system. I can look and see what I am going to pay to my door. So many other sites I need to get a shipping estimate or arrange my own shipping before I know a bottom line. Unfortunately I think Piston worded his title line in a way that sounded critical and he didn't really intend it to be that way. You are always going to pay shipping one way or another, doesn't matter where you buy.

I can see a psychological advantage to rolling the shipping cost into the product price. If I buy an $1800 implement and pay $200 shipping, in my mind that will always be an $1800 implement accompanied by a $200 "tax" which is lost forever. But if that implement is repriced at $2000 with FREE shipping, I bought myself a higher quality implement (based myopically on price) with no money wasted on non recoverable costs. And when I sell it, the buyer can see that it was a $2000 implement new and may base his offer accordingly.

I have bought from Ted twice... both were without any issues. I would buy again in a heart beat.

No need to explain anything ! Your organization is first class all the way. I can't tell you how much I appreciate your how-to videos..... especially the ones featuring Peanut ( who wouldn't like a guy named Peanut??). I haven't purchased from EA yet, but no doubt I will eventually. Pay no attention to the negativity in this thread...... you and everyone at EA is doing a great job.

Ditto-

Haven't purchase anything yet but, I love browsing their site. I meet the 1000 mile radius by a couple of inches :)laughing:). Someday, when I take into account all information and expenses- this may be the way to go.

One product I have my eye on is the rear blade that seems to pivot everywhere...... Haven't seem it elsewhere and even with shipping, is an excellent price.

The EA website, with all the information, selection, pricing and those educational video tutorials??? Priceless. Ted plowed new ground with what he's done there, bless his heart.

The shipping/pricing structure system seemed quite transparent and obvious to me at my very first look at the site, a few years back. I dunno.
