We have a farm and I spent almost all of my career since day 1 out of school machining. Latest I did was CNC install , repair etc for 7 years at the big 3 and more. I have a vast collection of tools and all the safety gear.

I appreciate all the great replies. You guys have helped my confidence in owning the proper and necessary tools. I didn’t come from a excavating background but I love to be outside and digging. I decided to toss in the towel on machining and go in for my self. It’s been the best decision I’ve made in my life so far. It’s been a ground up start but everything’s been paid for in cash so far. 2 equipment trailers , dump trailer , truck , various tools etc. I wish more jobs popped up for my tractor. My large goals are my own skid steer and mini x.

I do a decent amount of dirt work, large property maintenance along with my Custom mowing and farming. They all can lend themselves to each other. You might want to grab a bush hog and get some field mowing contracts. Good money and relatively simple machine to do it. One of my customers just had a couple large buildings painted. The painters rented a large man lift with off road tires and put 100’s of feet of 6” deep ruts in the ground. I was hired to fill, seed and straw them. Nice job for me.

I have a 7’ woods bbx for my ls. Now that I have top and tilt I can finally drive on my flatbed with a implement attached and not drag ground.

Side note , kubota kx008 is a hard hat requiring machine. Had a trenching job in tight woods that the owner Wanted minimally disturbed. Went over a little log and kubota just happen to put the ROPS locking screw at perfect head height. A wack right to the temple. I went right to my truck after and grabbed my hard hat out. Got a nice little knob on the Melon now.
