Excavator boom swings and drops too fast

Here are a few different ideas to slow the drop.
Massey used to use a hex shaped flat disc the fit under the fitting that went into the hydraulic valve. one side flat and the other had a a slot so it was a one way restrictor

note # 50, 51, 52

you can also weld/braze a fitting closed as in the plowsite link and drill a hole to get the drop rate you need, of course it needs to be on the return line from the cylinder and will control the raise speed also.

I have an old Case DH4B trencher/excavator combo. Finally got the excavator up and running with the controls in the two joystick SAE configuration. When I run it, the boom drops FAST. Barely move the stick and she slams down. The left and right control is not quite as bad, but it is too fast. When I swapped out the old 6 stick valve for the twin joysticks, I could see screw in orifices in a few of the ports. They had pretty small holes and they were threaded in somehow. I couldn't get them out with a big flathead, they had a slot in them. Is there anything like that I can add to the current control valve to slow the cylinders down like the orifices? They looked just like sprayer orifices.
My backhoe is an aftermarket by Bradco but it has a built in flow control to slow it down. If yours doesn't you could put one of these in line; https://summit-hydraulics.com/produ...ping&msclkid=fa7853053a751044604e3738bd5b9332

Flow control valves are available to adjust the flow for a smoother operation.

I had a problem with the loader on my NH tractor dropping too fast.
The rise was at the appropriate speed but a little weak at times, The pump was the problem.
When I replaced the pump everything worked fine. Wish I had replace it sooner.
