I've been looking...Coopers is right. The best deal I found was a 12000 lb Takehuchi that used to be a rental for $26K. A little small for stumping...,anyway, someone else I know bought it and likes it alot. It seems to me that if you only get to own one piece of construction equipment, excavator w/ a blade is it....

You could always go the route in getting a full size backhoe, $30k will get you a newer decent backhoe (I have to say Case of course) and as long as you make sure it has an extendahoe you can add a thumb. But that's a last resort. Backhoes are great but for certain jobs like what you want to do an excavator is much better.

Here's an example. Don't get something this old but you see the thumb on it. I loved using this backhoe because of the thumb.
