I'm hoping to buy a 3 to 6 ton excavator to work along side my B1750 HST & trailer. I know nothing about excavators, and was wondering if there are any good Forums out there, that I could use? /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

The land I will be working on is soft so I'll be looking for light weight dispersion over large tacks and a good length boom. I will be buying secondhand (5 - 7 yrs old)- what are the most reliable models on offer?

Any thing you can tell me will be much appreciated? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I have had 5 Kubota excavators and can I tell you from experience that they are one fine machine. I currently have a new KX-61-2 (5900 lbs) and it has alot of power. You cannot go wrong with the Kubota.

Ditto on the kubota excavators. I've talked to some people that have said the Komatsu PC 40-7 is a good machine as well. Cat does have some nice mini-trackhoes, but I think Hitachi has some REALLY nice machines. Here's a couple pics. You of course want to have a hyd. thumb on it because that comes in very usefull.
