Excessive Heat

/ Excessive Heat #21
I have a 3820 and mowed about 4 acres yesterday; had to clean vent areas front and side, also pull radiator vent each time. I did not let tractor get in the red, but high on the temp scale. 4-TIMES

This was very high weeds and very good grass, so expected slow mowing.

Ford and AliceChalmers I own and or had would have acted the same I believe.

I believe you must keep those side panels and front cowl clean!!

Mowing in high vegetation is hard on any tractor, but should not be a problem for a new tractor, M.I..

My tractor still blows white smoke on start up----but I am still impressed!!!

I am not sure of conditions in Florida, but this time of year in Oklahoma the grass and weeds are going to seed and into the dormant stage. These seeds and chafe are extremely loose and will quickly cover an intake cowling and a radiator----on ANY water cooled vehicle. I also was in the field yesterday---in my 4WD pickup. Seed heads were above the hood in some places. Had to pressure wash the radiator in order to maintain the normally cool running truck.
Most heating "problems" that we encounter at our dealership, with regard to tractors, are due to radiators being dirty. And most of the "heated responses" we get as a result of suggesting that the radiators are dirty are because the customer does not know that their radiator is dirty.
Just because the front of a radiator is clean does not mean it is clear inside the fins. Fine dirt and chafe will cake up in the fins, usually on the lower end.
If you can not see through the radiator---it is plugged!!
