think back of the old days of cassette tapes .. now fast forward to a year ago...I was at work at a venue one time listening to some cd's via headphone. some middle manager who is clueless asked what I was doing and i replied I was que'ing up a stack of cd's. they said ok and walked on.. ;)

I almost feel bad about that one.. :)

Don't feel bad. He was easy. :D

A local telephone company tech called a naive telephone office supervisor at home to give here a heads-up that they were going to blow out the telephone lines and she might want to protect her home from the dust:D.

When her husband got home he found all the phones wrapped in plastic bags and he had the extremely sensitive job of explaining the situation to her:eek:.

She got over it but had other similar incidents, e.g.:

Her husband and a friend were working on some furniture repairs in the shop and needed some more biscuits to put together some parts. They informed her that they were going to another friends house for some biscuits-- she was later indignant that she:confused: wasn't also invited to go with them to have some biscuits.:confused2:

Seems that one doesn't know what one doesn't know.:D

here's an even better one.

lady I used to work with.. she was as nice as a girl could be.. and sweet, and cute as stained glass... she had just moved into her first apartment after college and leaving 'the nest'

she had some old light fixtures that were loose where the light bulb screwed in, and the lamps would flicker when you shut the front door..

she proceeds to remove a bulb and wrap the base in tin foil to snug it up... then the breakers stated popping.. ;)

true story!!

I used to work in a warehouse part time while I was in college. We packaged and shipped out forklift parts. We used to send some of the new guys around from one supervisor to the next, between 2 different buildings looking for the box stretcher.

Love this thread. I used to work at a wood truss factory in the summers between college. We'd send new guys for:

-skyhooks
-board stretchers
-sawdust pumps (my favorite)

To get any of these items, you had to go to the basement (non-existent), and you had to get the "basement key" from the foreman. :)

Bucket of steam??

Old Trick was to send a new fellow over to get a barrell of steam and to make sure the bungs were tight!:cool:

The swift trainees in the steam plant will return with a quarter pail of hot water and say "sorry it condensed on the way back"

The barrel of steam with tight bungs is great because if they do manage to get a barrel filled with steam and sealed it will completely collapse the barrel inward as it cools!!!!!

Should just give them a shot glass of water and tell them to heat it up until its a bucket full.
