That's water or oil running down the side. Sure does look like a big crack at first glance!

I don't know, I swear I can see through it. I'm voting it's a serious crack. I would think the rod would fit closely in the cutout. As it sits, there's 1/4" of clearance on either side of it, with a 1/2" crack traveling down.

If you can expand on the pic, it looks more like water than a crack. If it is a crack, he's got issues....

Not cracks anywhere. It's melting ice, dirt, and just old (1994) with original paint. But there is nothing that affects it's function or strength. One of these days I may paint it.... but then again, why?

Here's my set up.....hoses aren't that close to exaust....wonder if you could route your hoses over the higher bar on the hitch....I might be able to do that too.

Rerouting the hoses is the best way. Adding an extension to the exhaust may cause damage by vibration to your muffler or pipes by the extra length, particularly if it is unsupported. How the hoses are attached at the hydraulic valve greatly affects their effective length, lay and positioning.

I bent the wire loop up a little & rerouted hoses, they are above exhaust now.
