OK, I didn't know where else to put this, figured this was a better spot than rural living... At least this forum deals with grease, oil, etc. (and since it's a question about my truck, we can consider it an oil burner question! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif)
Anyway, here goes: I have a '98 2500 w/ cummins 12 valve 5.9L engine. Good truck, nice to drive and work with. But, I have to replace the exhaust, specifically the muffler (it has a catalytic). Dealer wants 300 parts and labor for the muffler. At that price, i'm thinking about replacing from the turbo back with a performance aftermarket (looking at gibson; dynomax; mbrp, etc.)
Does anyone use any of these in a similar setup? I'm interested in replacing the entire thing since I've got rusted brakets and pinholing on the turbo down pipe (dealer missed diagnosing that..) I'm finding that an entire system might only run about 4-500 in change. This seems better than spending 300 on the muffler alone, but could this be right?
thanks all. sorry if this was the wrong place to post this... art
