It's not flash I love about sports cars it's the speed and handling, mostly the handling. I used to ride a motorcycle and loved that feeling carving thru curvy roads. A small open sports car is the next best thing. And it gets 27 mpg while I'm driving it fast.

The Jeep is also fun to drive but in a whole different way; it handles OK but it's the driving with no roof and maybe no doors that makes it fun. But it gets about 15 mpg. All the aerodynamics of a brick.

And if I had to buy one of the 2 I’d pick the sporty car. A Jeep has to be eligible for the worst handling, worst mileage, worst reliability, worst transmission, pretty much worst everything vehicle on the road.

I will stick to my strategy of buying a new f150 every 17 years with little repair costs. I currently own 2. A 1993 I bought new and drove daily for 17 years. It is currently my my hunting/play truck. In 09, I bought another one. I plan to keep it for another 3 to 5 years. The 93 has been very reliable. The valve covers have been removed and it has the original alternator. The 09 has also given me great service.

Most people trade because they want a new vehicle not because they really need one. There is nothing wrong with trading often if that is what you want. I would rather spend extra dollars on a new tractor, cabin, pool, etc.

Nah. I knew it was gonna spend most of it's life on the road and fire roads. So I upped the tire size by 1, added a 12,000 lb winch and covered everything underneath with skid plates. I took my 71 year old sister grocery shopping in it and she remarked how comfortable the ride was. And she liked having no roof.

Well. it handles as well as any truck I've had (it's a long wheelbase model). As far as reliability it's just aging and rusting, but mostly body rust. The engine is good and it has a Mercedes Benz 6 spd truck tranny. 1st is real low and 6th is an overdrive. Gas mileage does suck. It was the last of the TJs before thy went with the new body/engine combo.

And it tows well behind my Motorhome.

I got the same bug. I’ve reached the end of the internet researching trucks and tractors. I have a WANT not a NEED to replace my 2006 Honda Ridgeline with 250k miles on it.

I really like the new F250/350 Tremor with the big simple 7.3L pushrod V8. I’m also waiting to see the specs on the new Toyota Tundra that’s being released soon. Other than that I stay busy restoring my 1980 FJ40 Land Cruiser.

An F250 7.3L Tremor would also be high on my list for new trucks. Plenty of capability, awesome looks, mpg in the mid-teens still (I would hope?), and reasonably priced compared to some other pickup options.

Agree...if you are talking about pavement pounding, buying a Jeep because it looks "cool" and not because of its off-highway capabilities. But some of us don't live where there is a lot of pavement...if I leave my driveway and head south it is 102.5 miles till I get to the first pavement. I'm not going to buy a Mustang and put a lift kit and 10 ply tires on it so I can drive the local roads. I'll suffer through with my poor handling, awful fuel mileage Jeep.
