Experience in Ditch Digging

This was my first venture digging a ditch. I did it with a FEL and box blade. I sure could of used a straight blade. I've still got some work to do, but at least it's a start.

I dug out about 5.5' of this levee that leads into a much bigger drainage ditch that belongs to the county, but is actually on my land. It leads ultimately to a river. Very good resource for drainage, which I need a lot of. Jeff

Nice - I dug one too, nothing like seeing the water running through it after all the hard work - as if seat time was work.
You may want to go a bit wider in the first area, I had to expand mine a bit after the fact.
Also I go out and once in awhile scoop sticks out when the ater is running, also very cool.
Got a toothbar yet? Makes all the difference while digging.

dannydan, I haven't got a toothbar yet. I'm trying to decide whether to spend the $3-400 on the toothbar, or buy a hobby welding machine and some teeth and make my own. Anyway thanks for the reply. Jeff.

Markham Welding

All the posts here at TBN rave about the excellent quality, great customer service and reasonable prices. If I remember right - I think someone posted (6 months ago or so?) that they got a Markham toothbar for their B7610 for @ $250 delivered.

Since that's less than the $400 you quoted - you might be able to get a TB AND the hobby welder! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

The price from Markham will vary according to your distance from NC where they are. To East Texas the freight was $62.50 which made the total price $212.50 for a 4' toothbar.

I can testify that the Markham unit is tough. I have really used mine and often use one of the corner teeth to pull tree roots and have had zero problems with it.

And it is correct that it makes a huge difference in digging. The teeth break up the dirt very well.

Only time I take it off is when I want to backdrag with the bucket or clean out a ditch from the side of the ditch.
