i run 15w40 in all my tractors, and f250.. in my f450 with a 7.3psd I started using valv blue 5w40 full syn.. though I live in florida so no real cold weather.. it meets the C specs.. and I can't imagine it would be bad.

This may be an old thread but my experience with 0W40 (Deere) synthetic is so positive it's worth mention. Things start easier, run cooler, get pressure faster and need less frequent oil changes. This oil, or simailar synthetic is now all that I use in everything I have--except for my old rototiller that gets 30W Castrol.
My trucks used to get an oil change at 3500 miles (non-severe use) and now I go 5500 or more and I feel sure I could go longer. I'd say it pays for itself.

I figure your response is to my info in the post above yours.
What would think would be a time limit on change intervals?

fwiw

Polaris ATV's/UTVs' have spec'd 0W-40 synthetic since the 90's. The owners manuals state you must use 0w40 synthetic!

New models have gone to a 0w-50

Sixdogs, Sorry I didn't get back to your question. I say that cause Amsoil says you can with their oil and doubt there is much difference between syn. these days I went 46k on my last oil in my diesel. The test said it was still good.

even if the oil test came back good.. i think I'd at least change the poor thing a lil more often than that... my diesel engine's worth it..

Have not been here much. Yah,46k is a long time. I will most likely change it more often for now on.. Just trusted the UOA. I don't know if I should trust a UOA as much as I do. I was curious and nervous about going 46k on an oil change. After 46k the UOA said it was still good oil but to resample in 7k. I said change it instead of another 24 buck for a test. I did put several qts. in for make up oil. It has 158k now and it burns 1 qt. in 8-10 k . I always wondered how often ya really have to change oil. Bugs me to know I'm dumping good oil I guess.
