JD 4310
Hi Guys,

Does JD offer an extended warranty for their tractors. My 4310 will be split a second time because of the transmission recall. It only has 12 hours! The first time it was split was because of a transmission leak...someone forgot to put a seal where a seal should have been. Now, it's going to be split again for the hydro recall. Maybe an extended warranty is a good idea for the 4000 series...but, does JD offer an extended warranty? Does anyone out there have it on their tractor? How much and what time/hours did you get?

Thanks,

Sorry about your mess. I have discussed this with others and the conclusion was that if the problem did not show up in the first 50 hours or so, it pretty seemed that the tractor was going to go through it's normal life without major complications. In 3 years, I bet most folks won't have 600 hours on their tractors and judging from many of the posts, we seem to have plenty who put on well under 100. In 3 years thats maybe 300 hours, a number so low that it seems ridiculous to have issues at that low number of hours. The warranty would basically be covering a brand new tractor. I believe my warranty is for 3 years which at my rate I should have about 700 to 800 hours before the warranty is up. I hope by then every bug (not wear) has surfaced. At just over 200 hours, I have yet to have a problem. I drive it pretty hard now too. Good luck with your decision and your tractor. Rat...

Most of the customers I've dealt with put around 600 or more hours on there tractors in one year, not three! If I were to buy a 4000 series I would opt. for the extended warranty because most major failures occur after a year or so! I'd rather pay the deductible them pay for the entire repair!

600 hours a year? I would say judging from the postings here at TBN, that is the exception. I see folks posting as little as 50 hours a year on the smaller compacts. Talking to my local dealers, they also say, much more then 200 hours a year is unusual for folks buying compacts. At 600 a year, thats 1.6 hrs per day, 11.5 hrs per week or 45.9 hrs per month every month. I guess it would be an interesting thread too find out how many hours folks put on their compact tractors each year. I'll start and say it's about 225 to 250 hours a year for me. I won't argue with you about the extended warranty, thats a personal choice. I feel my 3 year original warranty to be good enough. There have been many posts asking folks about whether they have had their tractors in for major warranty service. For the most part, I think folks have had pretty good service without the need for the dealer to do warranty repairs. There are always exceptions as the original poster details.
