There are lots of ways to skin a cat!Not sure I fully follow your description here. Would the LB be inside, to handle the 90 degree turn necessary to run from indoor -> outdoor? And then thread into the back of the weatherpoof box?
I think I can see how that would work, but would be a change from the current wiring in the building which is all MC and 4" square metal boxes. I prefer to be consistent if possible (for whatever reason the looks of things matters to me![]()
Yes, I was thinking that the LB would be inside, but you certainly could use a box and MC if you want the consistency. With MC, I think you might be able to use a threaded fitting through the wall to the weatherproof box.
Originally, I was just thinking an appropriate sized nipple could be water tight at the external weatherproof box, with a gasket/rubber washer at the metal outside, metal, a second gasket on the inside, and a washer or box or LB on the inside. Sorry not to have been clear enough the first time. Is this any better?
Bottom line: whatever works well for you. I just sweat the building penetrations a bit as they are guaranteed to be headaches later if not done well.
All the best,
Peter
