Extra Valve for Hyd Thumb ?

I have access to full fabrication shop. After looking at many thumbs I can buy online it seems to me the simplest one is the one that uses the bucket pin and has hydraulic cylinder and one weld on cylinder tab. Since this is going on my backhoe where can I tap off the hydraulics for an extra lever to work the thumb? I have a Kelly B30F Hoe attachment and it had it's own pump setup that runs off the pto. I figured between some half inch plate, longer pin, hyd cylinder from Northern tool it's gotta be cheaper then the 1000-1500 some of these companies want.

I have a 480D Case Backhoe and I priced new thumbs as well. Cheapest I could find was like $1,300
I decided to make my own, which I did, and the total cost for metal was less then $200.00.
I only needed the adjustable type without the cylinder but I am sure the hydraulic feature would be very useful.:thumbsup:

If the BH valve has a PB port, you can add a valve. and the output goes to tank.

If no PB port, then a diverter valve could be used.

With using these diverter valves is that any preference on what to tap off of? or split with. Stabilzers or BH arm?

once you go to a thumb, hyd is next so save time just go hyd right away.now for the valve a pb valve to a new one is the easyest,if your valves do'nt have a pb you can put the new one in front of the old set. on my valve its a foot valve right from the manufactor so it was designed for the bh but it was a @@! to install
