I really walked into that one, didn't I?:D I was thinking about the fact that I have some pretty accurate thermometers, but the HVAC thermostat is quite a ways off. I've read all the manual without finding any ajustment.

A Honeywell T-stat should be off no more than plus or minus one degree.

That said, measure the air temp two feet above or below the t-stat and you WILL get a different reading.

As Dan mentioned, many vairables.

I have a Robertshaw 9620 and I don't think it should be off that far either, but it is.:D I measured with a good thermometer right at the thermostat, in addition to other places in the house.

I refuse to be molested by the local lpg company. We used Dowdle Gas in Belmont MS for years, then the prices went up. Mom and dad divorced and I lived with dad till I bought the house. While we lived together I cashed in 850 dollars worth of aluminum. We owed them 50.00 and then prebooked the rest. Shortly dad remarried then that winter I got a bill for 150 dollars. When I called they said I was auto filled 100 gallons. then I asked about the price at the time, and they told me it was 1.89 per gallon. I told the themto do the math and it didnt work out. When I complained about the gas I had pre boughtthey told me it had been used, or hadnt been kept up with. I only use one gas water heater and heatthe house with wood. There was not leaks and no way to use 850 bucks worth of gas. Meeanwhile when I bought the house dad removed his paper work and had lost the receipt. The people in the office including the techs remeberedthe large purchase as well. But they had been bought out by a private goup of investors. and had new computers with no record of paid accounts. They adjust to make more profits for the investors and usually now run 1.00 to 2.00 more per gallon than their competitors. I had a used 100 pound tank I just fill it for the hot water heater at another store. My hot water heater went out and I couldnt get any LP or appliance dealer to fix it without buyng their gas. I was also having a tight spell with cash. In mid winter I had a fire already I decided to try a little experiment with water heat. I had a copper water supply coil off a drinking fountain that hac a 5/16 ID. I rand a Pex tube from the water supply line and attachedto one end of the coil and another to the other. then ran it back to my hotwater line. when I got ready for my bath Id put the copper coils in the heater on a nice bed of hot coals and turn on the supply . This gave me good hot water till the right parts arrived a week later. Im building a wood boiler furnace out of junk right now thats big enough I can load with my fork lift or skid steer. I have 3 40 yard hoppers of wood in the pile right now for it. I have a friend that has one homemade and its a real money saver with 4 teenage daughters in a 3 bathroom house.
