Would like to hear from users of Carter & Son's new EZ-Hitch for tractors. I have seen their video on their website and was impressed. A little different design than Pat's, but looks like it operates on the same principle and is considerably cheaper. You can see the video on their website <www.carterandsonsllc.com>

I find it hard to believe that there isn't anyone out there who hasn't purchased and used Carter & Sons EZ-Hitch for tractors. Com'n guys, let's hear from you. I really would like to know about anyone's experiences in using this hitch, and also their opinions/comments.

I looked at that website photo. How does it work, exactly? Looks like you have to pull a pin and put it back? Is that right?

By looking at the video it appears that you remove the pins before hook-up and after you have the link hooks engaged on the implement, you replace the pins. This is the only way these hitches could work. It looks easy enough, but maybe I'm missing something.

Gosh, I looked at all of them.......finally selected Pat's. All have some potential draw-backs, as I see it. Some don't have the tall "stop block" at the top, that contacts the emplement pins and helps to line up. Some attach to the top of the lift arms, which might limit the depth that you can lower ground-engaging equipment. Some use regular threaded bolts for pins, and others mount on the rear of the lift arms (Pat's) which may necessitate a longer PTO shaft on some tractors. Like I said, I selected the "Pat's" for my L3130, and thus far have only suffered suffered soreness of facial muscles, caused by smiling so much when I have to change implements :)

If you live in Texas, you know that "Fixinto" is ONE WORD !

I guess that was my point. On Pat's you don't have to do even that. The locking mechanisms are spring loaded so when the implement pin goes in it "clicks" over the pin...locked in. Just lift the 3pt hydraulics up to do that. When you disconnect the implement, you have to prop up the locking latch....then lower the 3pt and the EZ hitch is disconnected.

I agree that the spring loaded mechanisms that lock in the pins on Pat's design would save a little time (darn little) when initially hooking up as you wouldn't have to insert any pins, but in unhooking an implement I can't see any advantage as you have to get off the tractor anyway to prop up the locking latches and remove the top link pin as well. In the initial hook-up you also have to get off the tractor to install the top link pin, so how much extra real time is involved in doing this and installing the lower link pins versus the spring loaded locking design. I think the only evaluation that a potential buyer has to make boils down to, is the spring loaded mechanism design of Pat's worth $79.95 more.

Well Ed, I can't disagree with anything you've said. So the question is... is the price difference worth it to you?
To some that one little difference is worth it. Just depends on how often you switch and what it's worth to you. BTW, I'm not disagreeing with your evaluation nor your question, I was pointing out the difference...that there is a difference in hook up ease...as minute as it is. I guess the same can be asked for anything we buy...what's it worth to us. That's all that matters.

Well said Rob, and it reflects just the point I made, it's all up to the buyer on what he wants, what he is looking for, and what he wants to pay. The final evaluation on all of these points rests with the purchaser.

I will point out a few other differences. My Easy Change has set screws, shims, and u-bolts to stabilize the hitch and match to all size lift arms. The other difference would be on some implements you do not have a whole lot of room between the deck and the pin. How do you slide the hook onto the pin? I know I have had several customers that just the bumper got in the way and we had to modify the hitch for them. I am sure they have a good product. I do feel mine is better. LOL. As always I thank you for your continued support.
