EZ-Mover Hitch becomes log lifter/skidder

I have a big job ahead clearing 14 acres that the hurricanes tore up last year. Was reading the logskidding thread in "Owning/Operating" the other day when my new Pat's EZ Mover 3-pt receiver hitch arrived. Looking at some of the solutions others have come up with for log lifters, the light bulb came on ...

Welded a 3/8 hook to the vertical member, which lowers the lift point 6" below the top link (think safety). Also reinforced the receiver crossmember (90 angle) with a heavy gusset drilled out for a shackle.

Between the receiver hitch, the shackle, and the hook I think this can be rigged up to lift just about anything anyway anyhow. Since I needed the receiver hitch unit anyway, cost was 0. Saturday's coming, we'll see how she works.

For complete safety when pulling things, you need to get the attachment point level with or BELOW the rear axle.

Anything significanly higher than the rear axle and the tractor can easily do a back-flip before the operator can react.
