F150 Diesel

I am more of a Chevy guy. Ford hasn't been good for my family.

Well, however you feel, the Land Rover diesel is in the new Ford F150. I think it takes Ford to a whole new level above competitors.

In supertankers, yes, then Wartsila 96 is the norm.
In a 120 ton Hitachi EX1200, the smallest mining class excavator you'll find a Cummins QSK23 weighing 2200kg at 760hp. One size smaller is construction class, a 90 ton Zaxis 890 has a 15.6 liter Isuzu at 520hp, weighing 1100kg.

And what about the inline 6 which is spoken of, for GM ?? A clean sheet design, or badge engineering ? Isuzu has no such engines, 5 liter 4 pot or 7 liter six.
Will this be an inline 6 version of the Duramax V8 ? There was speak of a 4.5l Duramax V8 codename LMK...

Sadly the 4.5 was shelved at bankruptcy and stayed there. The new 1500 Diesel is a 3.0 I-6 - no info on it yet.

I didn稚 think there where any Fairbanks opposed piston diesels still in service due to the maintenance costs and complexity.
I wish there weren't...I'd rather operate a turbine like I did in Chicago, but that was a $14 million option here. It is cool to see when it's torn down though.
Sorry Goeduck...I'll shut up now...back to F-150's :drink:

You guys discussing marine engines in an F150 thread need to get a room

just trying to figure out how to squeeze one in the bed and use the hood area for cargo. How that for thinking out of the box.

He just enjoys stirring things up and is better off on your ignore list.

Getting back on topic, super happy to see some competition in the half-ton diesel space. We're pretty happy with our EcoDiesel getting ~29mpg highway and 20s towing tractor/horse trailer. Nothing like some good competition to keep companies from resting on their laurels.

So what are the towing specs for your specific set up?
Also, as a Ram lurker on the boards seen the cam timing issues. Is this a concern for you?
One video showed the repair but this so called company was so secretive that they would not discuss the repair procedure.
The summary of the video was something ike trust us with your 2k and we will fix it.
Hey it was on the internet so must be true right????..../s

So this is quite different then the Ford video showing the opposing engine with super charger and turbo.
Whew, I can wrap my head around this one.

Thanks for the nugget.

I want to say the crew cab is rated for ~8.9k but we generally keep it under 7k. With a half-ton rather not have the tail wag the dog, so to speak.

We'll see how it does long term, I'm not super concerned at the moment though. It's been a great truck so far.

I'm at work now listening to a Fairbanks-Morse 12 cylinder diesel, opposed piston, twin turbo, 4500 HP that turns a generator. Overhauled this past winter to the tune of 1.4 million!

Back up generator for a power plant?

We use Cooper Bessemer to run a 5.5Mw standby generator. 10 seconds to full load.

Appreciate that.
So scrub the eco-diesel for me. Looking for that utopian unicorn truck to pull 10k rated for 11k (safety margin) and all in a 11/2 ton truck.
J/k

3/4 ton toss up between the 6.2l gasser F-250 or I6 Cummins. Price wise a 2016 Cummins can be priced around the same for a F-250 gasser Lariat. Having owned and modded up the ol 7.3L sure miss a diesel; even if it really is not 'justified' heh...heh...

Do not want to get caught short again lacking towing capacity .....again...sigh...

Glad you engine serves you well. Hopefully Ram will eventually put this issue to rest as most manufacturers eventually work out these types of issues.
