551229 is the oil filter number on it now. Sorry for the long delay but just got it out from storage and will need to get this girl ready for work> :)

It is strange as it doesn't make any bad noises if I'm using the top and tilt cylinder on the 3 pt hitch. Almost like it's got a return path stuck closed but I removed all the valve spools on the valve and still nothing. :( Looking for some help here as I'm baffled. :)

Darin,
I have been following this thread because I was worried about having pump problems with my FX32D. I am using dexron ATV in my tractor and it has been working very well for years until about 2 wks ago. I still had 3pt and FEL use. Both were pretty much as fast as they had been but were noticably jerky and maybe just slightly less strong under a heavy load (this is subjective and may or may not have been happening). I pulled the strainer that has been mentioned and it was nice and clean and the fluid was clean as well. I had just changed the hydro filter but not the oil since it still looked clean. The jerky conditions started after the filter change so I replaced the old fluid and bought yet another new filter. I then noticed there was some oil seapage on the filter return lines. I found a small wear spot in the return hose that wasn't dripping but seaping. I replaced the hoses and that fixed the problem. It had been air getting to the pump through a hairline crack in the return hose. I am guessing that I moved the filter housing enough to break loose the worn hose when I replaced the filter. Anyway it is fixed as of today and outside of the new filter and ATV it only cost me enough for the hose to fix it. Don't neglect the simple stuff, lord knows it is usually not that easy for me, but this time it was.

Thank you for the reply and am glad it worked out for you. My next plan is to do exactly what you just mentioned just in case. :) Like you said it's pretty darn cheap to try. Will keep everyone posted.

The OEM Filter part # is 194250-48310, NAPA does not have a cross, but they have some that (will) fit. Just because it (will) fit does not mean that it is the right one for your F215.

I actually tried napa then I bought this last one from Hoye Tractors so I am pretty sure it is the correct one. Right Hoye Tractor?

"The first time I changed it I used a NAPA cross over number but am not sure what it was. After this change the unit didn't make a noise and everything worked SMOOTH for about 15 mins."

This is the weird part...Maybe I should try the Napa one again. :)

UPDATE:

Thank you very much for your help Ernie. BRAVO!

Bought new filter (napa 551229) and 6 gal of ATF (automatic transmission fluid)...drained as much of the old oil out as possible and put the new atf in with new filter.

Guess what? NO NOISE and all the lift arm functions smoothly. Right now it's been running great for over an hour of operation so I put the tiller back on and will put the girl back to work.

Again thank you for everything.
