Bought an F22D a while back with a koyker. has worked great for years. last year the bucket started to fall when the tractor was running.

That is, it started out dropping an inch or two over a period of about 10minutes while running but not using the bucket. It seems to have become a little worse. It creeps down and I have to adjust it back up inbetween using it.

Now I am not well trained in hydraulics. One person said it sounds like the pump is failing. Seemed unusual since the F22D only has 1100 hours on it. Is it possibile there is an air leak in a line somewhere?

Ideas? Recommendations?

A bad pump won't cause the loader to do that. It will have to be either a leaking loader valve or leaking loader cylinder to cause it to drop like that.

I'm in agreement with Aaron about the 2 possible locations. My first choice would be the control valve. For it to be located at the cyls, both would have to leak.

I've seen this happen with mine once in a while but the leak down is much slower, dropping down over a day or two when the tractor is sitting. Next time the bucket is used, most likely it will not bleed down.

A while back, someone talked about a "spool valve" going bad. It was located inside the front bucket control panel. This may be worn and therefore allowing the fluid leak backwards, hense, the falling front loader. I understand that this part may be available as an aftemarket part. Look at your loader parts drawings and see if you can indentify the part. Note- I understand that there are different size holes in the spool valve to control flow volume. Check that option.

Keep us informed as to your progress.

Whichever cylinder is drifting, it needs to be resealed. The piston seals are bypassing internally. This is extremely common on backhoes. Don't waste your time messing with valves. If you do the cylinder and that doesn't solve your drift problem, I will mail you a check for the cost of the cylinder reseal. That's how confident I am.

I just picked up my tractor today at dealer. Had the same problem, cylinders replaced under warranty. To find out if it is the cylinders if it is a quick disconnect loader...

With tractor running disconnect quick disconnects for bucket curl mark cylinders with tape and see if it creeps if it does it is cylinders. If it does not look else ware.

Good luck
