F2690 quality issues

Quick change of cutting height in F2680 is simple, all you need is a different mower!

I just leave it the same height in F3060 and don't mess with it.

Maybe start with comparing the lift arms to an older model in the same line? You could also grind some of the steel to check for carbon content? Not sure where to go with this. If you don't like the Kubota just sell it and move to something else.

Can you describe the gearbox failure?
Broken gears? We’re they blue from heat due to loss of lubricant?
As far as the water pump failure who knows. Everything is prone to failure given enough time and then there are those early failures that just happen (cause unknown) because of a defect.

The gear box itself didn't fail...the shaft that comes down onto the pulley failed and wallowed out the big pulley and the little key lock. I bought a new gear box because my dealer's parts dept. said that was the only way to get a replacement....turns out they were FOS...I called Messick's they sent me 2 shafts, 2 pulleys, and 2 of the key locks. My tractor repairman got them put back together easily and I now own 2 working gear boxes. After tax it cost me $1200 instead of $250 to get it fixed. To say I am irritated with the dealer is a massive understatement.

Come to think of it, my rebuild was $600, but that also included replacing a U-joint on the driveshaft and a couple other maintenance items. The gearboxes can be rebuilt/repaired.
I‘d put Kubota above the middle bar of manufacturers in terms of repair needs. My farm tractors have been outstanding in reliability. There’s a few minor things broken on each one, but they run and get the work done every day, which is what makes me money.

It's good to have a spare mower deck bevel gearbox in case overhauling is needed in future, that way you will not be in a hurry and can shop around a little!

My 1997 F3060 RD deck bevel gearbox design is lot simpler, and I was able to find an alternative for around $145 online - good thing since Kubota has discontinued that model gearbox.

Here's more details:
