F935 Trans Question

I hope this is the right section for tech questions. If not, please let me know.

I recently picked up an F935 and before putting it into service I changed the oil and trans fluid. I didn't notice the line in the manual that says not to drain the transmission before changing the filter until I had the filter in my hand. Now, after adding 5 quarts of oil the level still isn't up to the sight tube (its pretty much where it was when I got it), and I haven't noticed it come up any with the last half quart or so. Does anyone know why the manual says not to drain the trans when replacing the filter? Also, should I keep adding a reasonable amount of oil until the level starts to come up? Any help would be appreciated.

Don't know why they say that. I have always pulled the drain plug and changed the filter then refilled. I always just add until it shows in the sight tube then start and run for a minute then top off.

Thanks Kuboman. I had to stop by the dealer to pick up another part and I asked them about it while I was in there. They suspect there is air in the system, possibly causing a hydro lock and not allowing the fluid to go up into the sight tube. They didn't seem to be too concerned since I put the correct amount of fluid in. They also said that when this happens in the shop they put it up on stands and let it run for a while. I haven't had a chance to actually run it long enough to warm the fluid up, hopefully if it ever stops raining I can take it out and get it good and warm and then check.

One thing to check on the sight tube...make sure the vent tube from the top of the sight glass which runs to the "over flow tank" under the seat isnt pinched or plugged...if its plugged the fluid will never show up.
