Factory Cabs for BX and B Series

Thanks for that info Seymourbota. I haven't received my cab yet, but in anticipation of the problem in turning the chute, I bought a cheap 12V winch and mounted it on the snow blower, so that the cable on the winch will turn the chute just as the crank does now. I'll have to get a couple pictures of it so I can post them. I remember reading somewhere in this forum about someone hooking (I think) a power window motor to turn his chute. Time will tell if my little modification works.

Another question comes to mind after reading some posts. Does the Curtis Cab come with interior liners to seal the open area behind the seat, and to plug the radiater fan from sucking all the warm air out of the cab below the steering wheel?

Yes to both! The one for the radiator fan mounts with velcro which is held on by tape, though, and I found it didn't work great. I bought some do it yourself snaps and fastened them
on and it works much better.

Here's a picture of what I'm talking about.

Thanks for that pic!!! I couldn't determine what that extra piece of material that came with the cab for my B2410 was for- now is is clear!! The 2410 is built differently and there is solid plastic below the steering wheel, so I don't need it but I can see it would be essential on a BX.

Thanks for the info rbarker. I got the call yesterday that my cab was in at the dealer. If you will permit me, I'm sure I'll have more questions as I get assembling the thing.

I received my Curtis cab, and started assembly last night. Although I found the instructions "not great", it is actually coming together quite well. The new heater with the louvers looks like a great improvement over the typical early heaters I've seen in pictures. Any special (or less abrasive) cleaners recommended for the soft sided windows. I'm thinking Windex may be harmful. Straight water?

Lots of water and dish washing soap to clean the soft side plastic windows. Try to keep them as clean as possible and get the grit off first by flushing with lots of water. Then a mixture of 50/50 water and dish washing soap in a spray bottle. Spray this on the plastic window and rinse again. Then, using a soft cloth, such as a cotton diaper, soaked with water, spray plastic again and gently rub with cloth to remove the balance of dirt. If you keep the plastic clean and don't allow the dirt to build up, it will stay very nice for a long time. If you get scratches in the plastic, then those scratches will hold the dirt and the windows will cloud over time. When the tractor is in the garage, cover with a old parachute. Old parachutes can be purchased from people that do jumping and wear them out. They are great for keeping the dust off of things when in storage.

Yeah, the new heater style looks nice, wish I had it. As far as cleaning the soft windows I have only used water and a pressure washer. It's more about what you touch it with while washing so if I were going to scrub it with soap I'd use a sponge or microfiber type cloth. But pressure has been enough for me up to this point.

I have used 303 protectant on my boat vinyl for many years. It can also be used in place of wax.
