I'm about ready to purchase a new Kubota BX2230, but yesterday I saw a nice Honda 6522 for sale by owner. I haven't been able to find any info online as to what the value might be. This 6522 is about 6 years old - he thinks he bought it in 1998 and he thinks he paid around $19k for it. It includes a 60" MMM, a 60" snow thrower, a Curtis cab and a weight kit for the 3-pt hitch. The engine has 398 hours on it. The guy just bought a full-size Kubota with 17-ft rotary mower, heated cab, stereo system, etc.

His asking price is $10k but that seems high to me. Considering that I can get a new Kubota 2230 with 60" MMM, FEL and rear blade for just under $13k with warranty and 0% financing, there's no way I'd pay $10k for the Honda, but I really could use the snowblower and cab and I could wait for a used FEL to show up later.

Anybody know what this thing is worth? $6500 maybe? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I would still go with the Kubota regardless (IMHO).

Those honda tractors were good units but they were expensive and they did not catch on. Honda dropped them after a couple years. You are not going to get the same dealer support that you would on a current brand. One has to feel for the guys that laid out so much cash for these units. I would avoid it unless I got an awfully good deal.... I assume that parts can be obtained. I guess you can take it to the motorcycle mechanic if a repair is over your head....Good luck with that!!!!

I was in your same position last Nov. I am a big Honda fan, searched years for a 6522 and was about to give up and buy the Kubota. In hindsight, I should have done just that. However, just as I was about to buy the bota, a 6522 TLB came along, and even with reservations, I bought the darn thing. I have since found out that parts are unbelieveably expensive. A new seat will bend you over for 340 bucks, and the injectors are a whopping 150 bucks a pop. Even worse, many parts are not even available. The tractor itself is typical Honda over engineering, it is an amazing machine, but I am sure that down the road, I will pay the price in a big way. My adivce, buy the Kubota, I sure wish I had.

Not sure if you actually bought the Honda but I sure hope you did NOT. I just messed up the "top link bracket" on my 6522, admittadly my fault, but I called the local dealer for a price on a new one and even the parts guy almost fainted. What this bracket consists of is 3 pieces of common flat steal, 12 holes drilled and a few welds. Even knowing Honda bends you way over for parts, I expected to pay about 70 bucks for a new one. Well, the real truth was 300 big ones for the top link bracket. I am so so sorry I ever bought this beast and since I am honest to a fault, I can not sell the clunker without disclosing the issues. I am stuck with it and I really hope you are NOT !!! Buy the Kubota !
