Let me be the trouble maker.
I just sent you a private message. I think $24,000 is high. Your warranty is now less than 3 years and what kind of financing rate on a used tractor? is the warranty transferable?
price a new one I think you can get a new one with FEL, 4wd, rear remotes for around $25,000 new at mahindras low financing rate and 3 years of warranty.
Why do you think you need a 6500?

Im brand new to this board, and actually brand new to "tractor shopping". A fella has a 2005 Mahindra 6500 with a FEL and 78 hrs of use. It got full servicing at 50 hrs. It appears to be in excellent shape. No evidence of leaks. He traded up for a bigger Mahindra with a cab. The motor starts right up and sounds good. I drove it but didn't get to put it to any work. He is asking $24,000 for it and I have no idea if this is a fair price for such a machine. It looks almost brand new with no dents, dings, or scratches to speak of.

By chance this is not at Higginsville, Mo is it.
I am & or was looking at it also. It is at the dealership there & I think they are trying to sell it for a guy.
Not sure if I am going to take it.
But I got a different price. They quoted me $22150.

I did the new vs old thing & came up the a new one would cost about $1500 more over the course of the 5 year note & that was with 9.9% financing on used.
I was quoted $27000 for a new one.

FunHunter: Personnally, I think you should look at a new 6000 4wd with FEL. Since you're a new tractor type, I really don't think you're gonna know the difference of 5 HP on a tractor that nominally weighs 3 1/2 tons. See what deals you might get on one of those....BobG in VA

The 6000 lists about $1800 less than the 6500.

I got a price of $21,600 for a 5500 4wd w?FEL here in Louisiana 36 months free financing!

prices I received for 5500 w/ loader, 4wd, rear remotes was $22,500 and $23,700 for 6000. I think the 5500 is at least $500 high. Don't know on the 6000. In any case don't pay $24,000 for a used 6500.

Thanks Michelle.
You've all been quite helpful.

You should be able to buy new for about 15% below MSRP. Look on the web for MSRP of tractor and loader. That will give you a real world idea of what kind of price you're getting. Myself personally I think you could do better. Keep in mind though you could also do much worse.
I would want to know why in the world someone wanted to get rid of their tractor after 78 hours ?!?!? They would have to make me believe them too!

Well, I didn't get the used one (78 hrs), but with a bit of work and one particularly helpful dealer, I found the one I am buying. I am getting a 4WD 6500 with a FEL with a skid steer quick attach with a 78 inch KMW bucket for $23,900!!!! Great financing too! I sure am glad I came on this site and got directed so well.
Thanks to everyone!
