Believe it or not that little buck weighed 160 lbs dressed!
It does look small in the photo and it was small compared to two of my buddies bucks ...one was 175 lbs and much more bulky the other was 205 atypical 14 point.
All local too.
We have deer problems here too. Bad enough so we stopped planting pumpkins a couple of years ago. We used to grow a pretty good patch and the kids sold them and used the money for clothes (girl 15) and video stuff (boy 11).
The did pretty well. Then the deer found the patch and eventually they got bad enough to ruin the whole thing.
We went from 300-400 pumpkins down to 15 two years ago.
The deer just eat a hole in the side and suck out the seeds when they're green. If the pumpkin makes it to orange they'll generally leave it alone.
Pumpkin feed does make for good tasting venison though!

Here in South Louisiana fall color is rare. Every few years we do get a treat however. This is my neighbors field in mid October 2001.

For a few years I did a ton of commercial photo work. Mostly vehicles for magazine ads and sometimes 200 or more per week. Maybe something rubbed off. This pic is just the scene across the road from my place. I noticed the light was really perfect late that evening and got off my tractor, went inside and got my digital camera, zoomed in 20x and started firing. The colorfull trees are 2000' away. This image has been dummed down to get under the forum size. The original is 1024x768 and 2.25mb.

We enjoy our colors here on the ranch every Autumn but our Fall Color is no where as good looking as the ones from the NE. VT must be very colorful by now as I understand that the 'color' is at it's peak in the New England region. Looking forward to your photos.

Cotton, there are so many lovely fall pictures out there it would be impossible to see them all.

I prefer to store the picture along with the smells, feel of the wind and general ambience in some nether region of the gray cells from whence it can be retrevied when desired.

Great sunset, Cotton, on your ranch. I love to see pictures like that from other parts of the continent! This one was from my property (not quite a "ranch"!) in northern Nova Scotia.
