Farewell to Tetter Dog

Pete, you've had a blessing to have had such a good friend and companion. Good friends always live on in our memories. Somewhere out there is another young dog needing a good friend and someone to love. Sounds like you've got plenty to go around. Godspeed Tetter Dog.

Pete,

I'm so sorry to hear that you had to let Tetley go. I can't imagine how you felt. But take heart that the last words Tetley heard were from his BEST friend, and he'll always remember you until the time you both are together again.

It will take awhile, but eventually you'll have all of the wonderful memories of the things the two of you shared. And those memories will be with you forever.

God bless you and Tamara.

I am heartbroken to hear about this. I was hoping and praying that his tumor was operable and he would continue on. My you and Tamara find peace in knowing that you provided him a wonderful loving home for all his days on this earth. May he rest in peace and the sorrow in your hearts turn to joy as you remember the fond days of times past.... Junk....

So sorry Pete, I know just how tough that was on you. A very sad event but you did the right thing for your loved one.

A day later. I still feel him in the thump of tails, the joyous howl that greeted my homecoming every day, the way he'd silently watch me...then wag like crazy when I glanced his way.

The attached photo was taken about half an hour before he went in for surgery. He looked so healthy and happy. The only solace I have right now is the fact that his death was easy, that he went surrounded by love. Had I closed him up and brought him home to die it is very likely he would have gone alone and afraid as his spleen was ready to rupture.

I know whatyou are going through, I lost a great companion "Scooter" of 16 yrs and It was an awful time. The only thing I can tell you is, it gets easier to deal with as time goes on. I had to take a couple of days off from work as I would just start tearing up when thinking of him.
"If you were half the person your dog thought you were you'd be a **** of a man"

Take care,

Boondox, you have my greatest sympathy...

I couldn't read your original post...brought too many sad memories back..

When we had to put Ol' Smedley down, it was probably the toughest thing I ever had to do. Both my wife and I just cried...

But, he had a good life and loving owners....just as Tetley had. You've got to remember those good times...

But it sure is tough...

Pete,

Keep one of your favorite pictures handy and spend a little time each day remembering the great times that you were able to spend together.

Our condolences....

For the new members and he lurkers........

RAINBOW BRIDGE
Just this side of heaven
is a place called "Rainbow Bridge".
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here,
that pet goes to "Rainbow Bridge".

There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends
so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine,
and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor;
those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again,
just as we remember them
in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content,
except for one small thing;
they each miss someone very special to them,
who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together,
but the day comes
when one suddenly stops
and looks into the distance.

His bright eyes are intent; his eager body begins to quiver.
Suddenly he begins to run from the group, faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend meet,
you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.

The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head,
and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet.
So long gone from your life
but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross "Rainbow Bridge" together……
