What a great way of life George! You are blessed to have children which are being raised and exposed to the real world! They are miles ahead of their school mates in terms of "life".

I copied this from one of the other forums, (I think you will agree)...

"A friend of mine recently attended a NASA Educator Workshop at the Marshall Spaceflight Center in Alabama. One of the presenters was a lead engineer at the facility who had grown up in the region. He was in charge of hiring new engineers. His ideal "hires" were B/C engineering students who grew up on a farm! 4.0 students scared the heck out of him, and usually couldn't interact well with people and in problem-solving situations. He said the farm folks made the best engineers; bar none! The farm provided them with invaluable, practical, think-on-your-feet experiences that connected the world of how things actually work (behave) to the world of how things are supposed to work. Some of the school's best and brightest...struggle to follow assembly instructions for lab set up when another student could just look at the equipment and know how it needed to be set up. Just like there are various athletic talents, there are a wide variety of mental talents. Life isn't about "holding all the cards," it is about playing the cards you're dealt with."

That's a very good paragraph and quote Dave ... I heartily agree ... I believe I've done the best I could do with my entire deck of 49 cards.....

That really sums it up. Too many people make excusses or fabricate reasons why they cannot do something. Others figure it out and move forward. People that do this always seem to have grown up having to solve problems and figuring out how to accomplish what needs doing. They don't give up, quit or whine about. They just do it.

Those girls will be successfull in life because of how they were raised. It's obvous from the pictures and your description that they are very impresive young ladies that will make us all proud of them!!

Thanks for sharing such a wonderful story and a glimps into their lives.

Eddie

George,
I'm really glad you shared that story and those photos of those young gals working like that. Besides being good looking, they look like they're enjoying themselves and not squeamish about stuff like so many others are. The girls my step son has been dating, most of them with some sort of pin through their lips or whatever. But he recently started dating a gal who is very outdoors and grew up on a farm. He told me, "geez, she's even got her own guns!" I got quite a kick out of that.:)

N80,

I took the liberty to add some text to this picture. Thought it might be a good picture for your desk at the office. :D

George, thanks so much for sharing the photos and story! I love these sorts of posts. I enjoy seeing the lifestyle that happens around the tractors more than I do the machinery itself. :)

They need hats though.

The oldest one does barrel riding in local rodeos and she wears a cowboy hat then and sometimes when they are on horseback moving cows.

My daughter won't wear one even though she has a couple that she won at a local rodeo......and now I have to tell that story. We went to this little podunk local rodeo about 5 years ago and one of the events is that they tie a ribbon around a sheeps tail and turn it loose in a crowd of little kids. Well, there must have been 75 kids out there and my daughter gets the ribbon and wins a cowboy hat. We get a good laugh and think no more of it. We come back next year and bingo, she gets the ribbon again! But she still won't wear either hat. I don't know why.
