My muffler recently took on a low branch and the branch won.
Mine didn't break as clean as Mikes. If you cut the old muffler just above (or below the weld) where the flange piece meets the thinner metal, any muffler with a 2in. inlet should do.
I got a CA 2 at Fleet Farm (Wisconsin equivalent of TSC) for $26. You can get an extension for about $18 that is bent to keep out the rain or get a rain cap (I did for $7.00 it only rattles at idle). Nice thing about the CA 2 is it's shorter and skinny. I don't notice any difference in the noise or the fumes I am getting.
If you have a FEL it's gotta clear the muffler. A skinny one is better than a fat one.
