I may go look at a 2430 Farm Pro, Koyker loader with a box blade and brush hog.. I know these are Jimna tractors and are a cheaper alternative to the big names, fit & finish is questionable also. I don't really care about the pretty part because it's gonn a get scratched up etc.
This tractor has 648 hours on it. The owner says it has been a great tractor. What should I look out for, etc?
Looking at the tractor, the key question is: did the previous owner keep the fluids full and clean? If they're not full and clean when you check them, it's hard to believe they ever were. If they are now, look for evidence that it's been run dry. I'd walk away from a tractor that had been run dry.
Other than that, if there is anything that doesn't work when you go to check it out -- no FWD, 3-point doesn't lift, PTO doesn't turn, can't get into one or more gears, clutch slips, tachometer doesn't work, gauges don't work, idiot light on -- don't take the seller's word that it's not a problem. Post here and we'll talk about it. These tractors are pretty predictable in what goes wrong, most of them can be fixed pretty easily. In general parts availability is excellent and they are easy to work on.
