Tractor
Farm pro 7040
I’m looking at buying a used farm pro 7040
The guy says it runs great but has a small hydraulic leak in the back. I asked if it was a hose and he said it’s from the control bank and that it was an easy repair with a gasket. I’ve never owned a tractor but am at a point where I need one. It will be on a smaller farm so won’t be used heavily or abused. Can I get parts easily, and are they easy to repair if need be. Also how serious is a hydraulic leak at the bank?

Love it when someone is selling something with an obvious problem and say it is a very easy fix. If it is an easy fix why not fix it before you sell it.

I would walk away. No telling what else is wrong with it.

Treat that thing like the PLAGUE

The general problems with those little Chineese tractors are broken castings & leaking oil all over

It is powered by a 70 HP Perkins diesel.

This guy buys and sells tractors and I don’t believe he tries to repair anything.

Is that a good diesel engine? It is a big tractor but for the price he is asking, if it’s a simple fix would be worth it.

Yes Perkins makes Very Good diesel engines.

They have been at it for a Very Long time. They actually helped Ford design the World tractor series 2000-6000 engines in the early 1960's which are also long lived engines.

Massey Ferguson has used Perkins diesels in some of their tractors as well.

I would call Affordable and Circle G and ask how parts availability is for that model.

That is a lot of tractor that can easily handle Cat 2 implements.

PS if it is equipped with a Koyker loader ( USA) that is a bonus, they are very good FEL's
I have pushed the one on my chinese tractor very hard and it has held up well.

Another parts and info source might be Keno tractors as well.

Thanks for that info, it does have a Koyker FEL on it. I did call all of those places and none of them sell parts for tractors over 40hp anymore. They would have to be sourced from china and it’s a 3 month wait for even the simple things such as air,oil and fuel filters. It was suggested by several of those dealerships to pass on the tractor.

Parts are getting harder to source since everything went to tier 4 especially with the china tractors.

I would heed their advice, because parts availability is no small thing.

If you don't mind me asking what is the asking price? Is it a cabbed tractor? How many hours on it?
