Howdy. Try posting in the chinese tractor section.. you will get more responses there, as the Farm-Pro tractor by Homier, is a rebadged Jinma tractor ( chinese tractor ).

Yeah, they're dependable enough IF you get a strong warranty and
Either
you purchase from a dealer with an established record of quality service-after-sale
or
you aren't afraid to tackle minor repair jobs yourself.
Assuming the tractor was competently assembled and serviced before sale, most of the little bugs work themselves out in the first 50 hours or so.

But I would be hesitant to accept $8000 as a first offer. The basic 3 cylinder 2wd unit is about $4000 assembled. Implements suitable for a 20hp Cat 1 Jinma should retail less than
$400 for a box blade
$1500 for a RFM
$400 for a rake (w/o gauge wheels)
$300 for a spreader.

That means you're paying around $1400 just for the 4wd. My guess is that the guy is using full retail on all individual items. If it was me, I'd push for a package deal discount

If you have no tractor experience and no ability to wrench on the tractor yourself, that tractor might not be the best choice for you. The advantage of the Chinese made Farm Pro tractor is that you get a tractor for a relatively cheap price. It is very common for the owner to be expected to diagnose and make quite a few repairs and "adjustments" to get the tractor lined out.

If working on your tractor is not something that you are able or willing to do, you may want to look at another brand. The only way I could reasonably advise that you would be okay buying this particular tractor is if the dealer is long established, has a good reputation, agrees to pickup and deliver the tractor to you when it needs these things fixed or adjusted, and you get all of these promises in writing from the dealer.

Some of these lower priced Chinese tractors can be a bargain for the "do it yourself" sort of person. From what you are describing, it sure doesn't sound like a good match to your situation. Good luck.

No, they're not; that's the same price Northern Tool has on the Nortrac, and if I'm not mistaken (I'm sure someone will tell me if I am), it's the same Jinma tractor; just sold under a different name. I wonder if some of our members aren't a bit reluctant to try to answer you for the same reason I haven't answered. You're talking about a cheap Chinese tractor, and as you can see on the forum, a number of people have them and are happy with them. So I'm reluctant to advise against buying one because that's a decision to be made by the buyer, but I'd also be reluctant to buy one myself for several reasons. They come with a warranty, but who's going to do any warranty work? How hard will it be to get parts, both now and 15 years from now? And I don't know the answers. There may be no problem at all, but if there is . . . how much do you, or friends, or family know about working on a tractor, doing maintenance and/or repairs? You say you have no tractor experience. Those tractors have a manual transmission. There's nothing wrong with that if you know, or are willing to learn, how to use a manual transmission. But I hope you're aware of the fact that they're a little different from a car's manual transmission. I also notice that your profile mentions horses. That and the list of implements you're considering would make me suspect that you're going to regret not getting a front end loader to go with any tractor you buy.

Now . . ., the above is purely my personal thoughts and opinion. Anyone is welcome to express a different one. And welcome to Tractorbynet, FLAGIRL1.

P.S. most of us would prefer that you turn off the caps lock; makes it easier to read. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Well I see a fly in the oitment here, Farm Pro does not make a 20HP 4wd tractor. Nor do they offer an LE version, so someone is not being truthful if they are saying it is farm pro. Farm Pro now offer a two year parts and labor warranty, so having to do your own repairs is not part of Farm Pro ownership experience if this dealer is close enough to provide the service a dealer should. Farm Pros are not blue either.

Just my opinion, mind ya. But something's really wrong with those prices. A $749 RFM almost has to be Chinese. I wouldn't have one. Lots of complaints about noisy transmissions, and a reputation for lousy tires and belts. The rake and BB prices sound too low, they might be Category 0 implements. The JM204 has a Category 1 hitch. And whereas it's not unreasonable to pay $500 for a GOOD spreader, that price is out of line with the rest of your quotes.

As far as the tractor, $5999 will buy the more substantial JM254 at someplace like THIS

I agree with what the others are telling you, Jimi tractors are a great buy for those of us with mechanical talents. Not that they need constant attention but it‘s the little things like electrical connections & fittings that need attention. I have had a great deal (26 years) of experience with a model 430C John Deere crawler tractor used in an industrial setting, This tractor was built in the 50’s (and is still in use today, drove it three days ago) and in my mind the new Jinma’s are on par with this vintage of machine. Ask anyone who has a 50’s vintage John Deere and they will tell you that they need some tinkering to keep them going but they are a basic hard working machine. You may be better served by looking for a used tractor that will be supported by a close local established dealer. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
