Joe, good to see you post, been a bit worried about ya! How bad is it where you are?

Hey Bluechip,

It's not quiet as bad as Biloxi, GulfPort, and New Orleans, But. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

1.8 miles away from me on the coast: Coastal homes were completely destroyed by water and wind. I haven't had time to take a coastal drive, but they tell me that there are about 1500 homes in my area that are completely destroyed. One home that that I saw, that was built up on Pileings/Telephone Poles, was completely gone, with nothing, but the telephone poles, left sticking out of the ground. I could see lumber, couches and furniture strewn through the woods 1/8 to 1/4 mile, back through the woods, behind the telephone poles.

Houses all around me flooded out and lost all of there possessions and may have to rebuild, because of the flood damage.

I haven't heard the official wind speed where I am at, but I have heard rumors of about 125mph sustained.

The wind was blow'n, the trailer was rock'n, and when the gusts came, the trailer was buck'n. I thought that the trailer was going airborne at one point.

My new metal building that I just got completed stood good though, Thank God.

Didn't get much sleep Sunday night and it was difficult eating breakfast Monday morning, My coffee kept spilling. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The people down here along the Gulf Coast need lots of help, and anything is appreciated. People are still floating in the water over in New Orleans, which in a straight line is about 85 miles from my house.

Don't mess with Katrina, she'll take your house, (Literally), and leave a boat load of mud in your yard. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thank you for thinking of us.

Get your tractors running &
Have a nice day,
Joe /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Hi All,

Must admit that I would like a 4x4 tractor with PS. Price at
$4850 out the door is really good and would like to know how you managed that.
With regards to the Farm Pro and PS, forgive my lack of knowledge but could you overcome the Turf tire lack of weights by loading the tires ?
I am looking for something ( inexpensive ) to do lawns, dig posts, and have a loader. Is the 2010 or 2410 to light for that?
For the loading am not looking at really heavy stuff but just move some dirt\gravel around and move some snow.
I am in Canada and you can't even get used tractors up here at the price of the new Farm Pros. Even with the exchange rate and taxes have to pay at the border is still cheaper than used stuff up here. Warranty work would not be an issue (other than parts ) as who could afford to ship it back and forth just to get it fixed so would be wrenching it myself.
Thanks again for all your input. Really appreciated.

Hey Kevin,

Nice tractor and really nice choice. Little out of my ball park what with exchange and border taxes but can always wish. Best of luck and have lots of fun with it.

I need something basic but I certainly do agree now that PS is a must. If it means turf tires, well then so be it but would have to think about loading them.

Can you load turf tires to get the extra weight to compensate for a loader ? Please be kind as I am a novice here.

I see the Farm Pros for as low $3700 with no PS ( little more with turf tires and PS ) but have also seen a 2005 Farm Pro 2420 with 4wd and ps for $4300 at a place in Missouri. As long as tractors are fairly reliable, and would be able to handle 4' or 5' mowers, blades, post hole augers, small loaders and can plow snow with it, I am ok. Only lifting dirt and gravel.
My property is pretty level with no hills and my needs are not great.
As I say, you can't find anything like this in Canada at those prices.
Warranties for parts only as too far to ship back and forth so while 2 year warranties are offered, they aren't much good to me.
Quite honestly, if the prices were good I wouldn't mind a couple of them with box blades and mowers as I am sure I could sell them up here with no great problems.
Other part of problem of course is getting them here with the high cost of transportation which adds to the price.

Thanks
Tom

My Yanmar owner's manual included a sentence advising not to ballast turf tires - a caution that was promptly ignored. Even though they were tubeless, I never had a single problem. They were filled with used anti-freeze.

So I'm gonna use my positive experience to speculate that you shouldn't have a problem, especially if your turfs turn out to be tube-type.

Hey 777:

I got my FarmPro 2425 last fall. I looked at everything, Kubotas, Mahindra, Branson, etc. They were all "prettier" than the the FarmPros (Jinmas) but none came close in price.

The Kubota I looked at had a FEL and backhoe (which I wanted) and was about $16k if I recall. It was basically an over-sized garden tractor. Too low to the ground to make it an effective tool to tame my 40 + acres.

The FarmPro on the other hand sits nice and high. The creeper gear an locking differential will get you out of most anything. Add the 4WD and you can climb trees with the darn thing.

I got my 2425 with a FarmPro FEL, backhoe, brush hog and blade delivered for about $13,000.00. I got it from Kimco off the net. I checked today and they are no longer carrying the tractors.

The manuals that come with the tractors are. . . junk. Forums like this are a HUGE help. I had lots of little problems, fuel gauge doesnt work, some of the fittings on the hyd. weren't tight, seat bearing failed, overall though, nothing major. I really like the tractor and for the money, a good buy too.

PS I've seen FarmPros on e-bay. With delivery. Don't know about Canada though.

Hi All,

Going to vent touch here so sorry before hand. Just jelosy.

You know, you guys have it made down in the States with Tractors. Up here it is the big name brands, a few grey market and a very few imports. Not insulting anyone but up here you are looking at $6000 Cdn for a crate Jinma tractor that I would have to put together, $9K for another 25HP brand assembled. When you look at used you are talking in terms of big money for something that is half decent. Found a " grey Kubota " for $6500 cdn with a loader but a 1000 hrs. Bolens with blower and mower for $5500 with 835 hrs.
So, why doesn't someone sell the FarmPro up here at a good price ? A $4000 ( usd ) Farm Pro assembled translates to around $4800 in Canadian Funds and there is no way I can pick up a really good used tractor for that never mind a brand new tractor. New costs which at least 4X that.
Sorry for the rambling.
Anyways, it sounds like the Farm Pros are not too bad a tractor for basic needs. If I have to get Turf tires to get PS then so be it as long as I can load them. Am in South Western Ontario and not really hilly for the most part so turf would probably do the job. Will be looking for something with mower, box blade to start and then think about the loader. Everything depends on price.
Maybe I'll start selling Farm Pros here if I can figure out where to get them from at a good price.

Must admit that I am pretty frustrated with tractor pricing in Canada. Good combination eh ? Real novice and frustrated.

Thanks a bunch guys. Really appreciate all the help and advice.

I sold one 2420 with loader locally, but swapped the rear turfs for ag tires with weights. I'm to far away or perhaps I could do something similar, with the new prices, you should be able to buy a 204 or 224 jinma for just a little more than the 2420 PST (Power steering turf tire) which is about 1000 USD more than the base 2420. Otherwise loading the turfs may keep your tires on the ground, but you will also likely need to add chains to get some bite with any kind of load in the bucket.

The best way if you want t loader is 4wd unless you get into a big utility type tractor.

Hi Blue,

Thanks for the input. Have seen the 2420's, 2010's or whatever they are for around $4500 with Turfs which would give me the PS. Would just have to load the turfs when I get a loader but would probably work as not heavy loads I would be looking at. Only really need a light loader of some type for the needs that I have. Compacttractorconnection has some light weight loaders.
Did see and AgKing for around the same amount with Ags and weights but Texas is a bit of a distance.
Looked at Jinmas but have not found them anywhere near this in price. Actually find them expensive.
Will keep looking and see where it takes me.
Why are Turf tires so pricey ?

Thanks again and especially to you Blue Chip.

Hi All,

Well this is a bit of an experience. Went to the FarmPro website and got some of the dealers listed in New York, Pennsylvania and Ohio and sent them emails to see if I could get some pricing. Out of the 8 that I sent, 6 were returned as undeliverable and mail boxes closed, etc. Not too many dealers with live links on the site either.

Maybe should contact FarmPro direct and see how many are needed as a minimum order to get them to send factory direct to Canada and I could try to sell them from here. Lots of people in my position. I figure they would want to send 4-6 as a minimum but who knows. Actually the idea of getting 4-6 is almost appealing as could get a mixture of PS and non PS.

Went to the local John Deere dealer yesterday morning and for around 4X the price of a Farm Pro, can pick up something that is about the size of my 13 hp lawn tractor with only a couple more HP ( 17 HP ) and that was with just a belly mower.Great deal. Was just a fancier lawn mower than mine.
Maybe should start a new thread to find out if there is anyone in New York State, Pennsylvania or Ohio, or Michigan that sell Jinmas for a good price.

So, the quest continues.

Take care and enjoy.

Tom
